A fundraising initiative is aiming to launch a Palestinian lullaby to the top of the UK charts. The campaign hopes to send support to communities in Gaza while also spotlighting Palestinian cultural expression.

A Possibility for Solidarity and an "Chart Upset"

Renowned figure Brian Eno, who features on the track, stated that the release called 'Lullaby' represents a moment to stand with Palestinians during the holidays. He remarked the potential for an unexpected chart success.

“That would be amazing if that happened, yes,” he said. “I wouldn't be completely disappointed if it doesn't manage to, festive releases are a unique phenomenon.”

Powerful Theme of Freedom and Dignity

Palestinian singer Nai Barghouti, who performs on the reimagining of a cultural piece called Yamma Mwel El Hawa, explained the song's defiant core message.

“The song holds a profound significance for a lot of people,” Barghouti explained. “The message is that I would prefer a dignified death than exist without freedom. That’s the main theme of the song; we desire to exist a life of dignity that we deserve as Palestinians.”

Recording Origins and Star-Studded Lineup

The single was laid down in the wake of a major charity concert held in late summer. Originally intended to be performed and recorded live, the performance was omitted from the lengthy event due to scheduling overruns.

The notable list of musicians contributing to Lullaby includes a group of prominent voices from the industry. All took part in the September show, which reportedly raised a considerable total for charitable causes.

Production and Release

Lullaby was crafted by a team of producers and composers. The single features a mix of the heritage language with new English lyrics.

The group managing the campaign have emphasized that their aim is to collect the highest amount for a dedicated fund. These resources will be distributed to Palestinian causes through an partnering humanitarian organization.

“There is no a fixed goal,” a figure said. “We’ll go for whatever we can get. Naturally, the more the merrier. All proceeds are directed out to those in need in Gaza.”

The reality in the territory was noted for its profound destruction, with a overwhelming percentage of buildings reportedly destroyed or damaged.

“Given that reality, a few million won't make an enormous impact. But I think the significant factor is primarily raising awareness for this issue and showing there’s another side to the story.”

The track is scheduled for release this Friday. Additionally, a complete film of the benefit event will be made available for streaming on a digital service from later in the month.
