Former Doctor Faces Sexual Assault Charges Against Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors report that a former doctor stands accused of committing sexual assaults against thirty-eight individuals who were under his care.
Details of the Serious Allegations
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of sexual offences – comprising acts against minors under the age of thirteen – between 2017 and 2021.
A senior prosecutor commented, “Our prosecutors have worked at length to assist a thorough and intricate investigation, meticulously examining the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
Scope of the Police Inquiry
The charges come after what investigators called a “complex investigation” into alleged sexual offences at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.
Spencer is scheduled to appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.
Breakdown of Offences
The charging documents said the forty-five charges include:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
