Iran Claims Assault on American Facility in Bahrain, As Part of Regional Counterattacks.
Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Bahrain, as the country executed strikes throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a "massive" and ongoing offensive against it by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone near the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The full scale of any damage is uncertain and the US has yet to issue a statement.
Regional Interceptions
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, the State of Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - reported they have shot down incoming projectiles in their airspace.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry stated it had successfully engaged several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
IRGC Statement
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard stated it was striking US bases and assets as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the attack on Iran initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That US-Israeli operation - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on sites linked to the the regime, with US President Donald Trump encouraging the Iranian people to revolt against the regime.

In Israel, air raid sirens sounded across the country after the Israeli military reported it had identified an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The defence ministry of the United Arab Emirates announced that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses dealt with the projectiles with great effectiveness and shot down a several projectiles," it added.
Officials reported debris fell on a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some material damage and the death of one civilian.
The US Air Force is stationed at Al Dhafra Air Base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
