Soccer Expert Chris Sutton Takes On Singer Olly Murs in Top Flight Forecasts

Arsenal's ten-match winning run came to an end by Sunderland prior to the international hiatus, but can the Premier League frontrunners recover against north London rivals Tottenham this weekend?

"{I believe like Arsenal are light years ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a plan for this game," remarked football expert Chris Sutton.

"Frank will try to neutralize Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating best this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's team typically still manage to win."

The analyst is making predictions for all 380 Premier League games this season, against AI, fans and a variety of special visitors.

In the twelfth round, he faces performer Olly Murs, who is a United supporter.

The singer's new album, Knees Up, is out on Friday.

Soccer and Family Life

Olly is a skilled soccer player as well as a accomplished artist and has been a featured player of several charity football matches down the years - but he is not planning a serious return as a footballer.

"{I recently played in a charity game the other evening for a mate of mine," he explained. "My team was losing 3-1 when I came off in the second half, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you will!

"I still love football, but I injured my knee a few years ago and it still hasn't fully recovered. I hope I could play more but the unpredictability of the game means it's too dangerous for me in my profession to do it seriously again.

"Plus I am forty-one now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am preparing for the moment that my daughter or boy decides to play instead."

Murs and his spouse his partner have two children, Madison and Albert, and he is prepared to follow in his father's footsteps by becoming their manager.

"I will not push football on our children but I've already told my wife that if they do get the passion for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will likely be coaching their weekend football team," he added.

"I watched my nephews play a lot, and I truly got into it, and I obviously was involved with a soccer team for a period too.

"My father did it with us when I was a kid, which is likely where I inherited it. He coached our team for two or three years and had a wonderful time with it. That could be the next step for me as well, and I am excited to it!"

Top Division Predictions

Saturday, 22 November

  • Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT

The Blues may have to wait a bit longer for their star's comeback from fitness issues but their offense is now stronger with Pedro and Delap both returned to fitness.

In my opinion this fixture will be fairly tight, however. Burnley are disciplined and their only at Turf Moor losses so far have been against the Reds and the Gunners.

This suggests a one-all draw to me, but I am in fact going to go with the London side to win narrowly for what would be their third consecutive league win in a row.

Sutton's prediction: 1-2

Olly's pick: The Blues will be too strong. 1-3

Artificial intelligence's prediction: 0-2

  • Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Cherries have been defeated in their previous couple games - albeit both of them were away - but they got absolutely spanked by Aston Villa last time out which surprised me.

On the other hand, the Hammers won two in a row before the hiatus and, although both of those games were at home, they appear competitive again.

The Hammers' sole on the road victory this season came at Nottingham Forest in August, when West Ham boss Nuno Espirito Santo was previously that team's manager.

So, what exactly do I go with here - can the Hammers extending their streak under their manager, or Bournemouth bouncing back?

I am going to choose Bournemouth, because I think what happened against Aston Villa was a blip.

The pundit's prediction: 2-0

Olly's prediction: Bournemouth are doing well but West Ham have picked up under Nuno. 2-2

AI's prediction: 1-1

  • Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT

The Bees were considered one of the favourites for relegation before the season started, but they have impressed a several observers under their manager and are in good form with three in their last four games.

My son advised me to select Brentford forward Igor Thiago in my fantasy soccer team a few weeks back and, guess what, I ignored the advice.

The forward will probably score again on the weekend but I am nonetheless not going to select him or support the away side at Amex Stadium.

The Bees have not had great success on the travel this season, and the Seagulls are consistently strong at their stadium. Brentford will try to hit them on the break but I think the home manager's side carry much more of a threat.

Sutton's prediction: 2-1

Olly's prediction: It could be one of those games where you think there is going to be a lot of scores but it actually turns out to be rather tight. 1-1

The computer's outcome: 2-1

  • Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT

It is a massive fixture for Fulham, who have suffered defeat in five of their last six matches.

Fulham have have plenty of talent in their squad but it nonetheless seems like they could be sucked into a relegation battle.

Regarding Sunderland, indeed they are the surprise package of the Premier League campaign so far.

Their display in the 2-2 tie with the Gunners last time out was superb. We've not seen anyone else rough up the North London side like that this season, and they were more than a match for them.

The logical choice to do to support the Black Cats here, because they are obviously able of roughing the hosts up too and, the last time they were in west London, they defeated Chelsea at the close of October.

But I am not going to choose that. Instead, I truly need to continue going against the away team with my predictions. I am taking a lot of responsibility for their good results because they clearly enjoy to defy my predictions.

Considering Fulham's home form, the sole team they have lost to is the league leaders. Marco Silva's side will be absolutely eager for a positive result, so I am going to predict they will secure three much-needed points.

Sutton's forecast: 1-0

The guest's prediction: I know the visitors are performing strongly and also that Fulham are on a bad run... but they have still been decent at Craven Cottage this campaign. 2-0

AI's outlook: 2-0

  • Anfield, 15:00 GMT

This is a hard fixture to predict. The Reds have suffered seven of their past 10 games in all competitions, but could they be one of the teams who benefit from the {international break|
