The RPG Sensation Creators React to TGA Nomination: 'The Fuck'
The celebrated role-playing game Baldur's Gate 3 has for the third consecutive year received a nomination for Outstanding Community Support at The Game Awards, leaving its development team at the studio behind the game equally shocked and thrilled.
After the announcement of this year's contenders, the official BG3 social media account shared the update, thanking the player base for their continuous dedication.
"It's a complete honour to have been selected for Best Community Support again this year, but really, this nomination is a testament to your continued enthusiasm for Baldur's Gate 3," the message read.
The development studio reacted to the announcement with a mix of amazement and pride.
Award-Winning Legacy
The game was fully released on PC in the summer of 2023 and went on to win the top prize at that year's ceremony, where it also won awards for Outstanding Performance, Role-Playing Game of the Year, Superior Multiplayer, Fan's Choice, and Best Community Support.
The following year, it was once more nominated for the community award and ended up winning. Now, it has received a nod for a third consecutive year, and many believe it has a good shot of claiming victory once more.
Continuous Backing Despite Last Major Patch
Although Larian released the title's last major patch in April of this year, that patch was exceptionally large. Patch #8 introduced some long-awaited features like cross-platform play and photo mode, along with introducing 12 new subclasses to the game.
While Larian stated that this update would be the conclusion of fresh content for the game, the studio has not abandoned the title or its fans, frequently implementing bug fixes and user experience improvements. The most recent update arrived in the fall as Hotfix #34, which introduced a optimized build of Baldur's Gate 3 for Steam Deck players.
Rivals and Fan Participation
To take home the 2025 community award, Baldur's Gate 3 will have to outperform fellow nominees including FFXIV, Epic's battle royale, the cooperative shooter, and No Man's Sky. This may seem like a herculean task, but considering that it defeated the same four games to claim the 2024 Best Community Support, it is certainly possible that the developers will roll another nat 20 and secure the award for the third year in a row.
